"HARD
WORKERS OF THE MONTH"
Every month, the coaches
will choose the one person in each of the divisions who they feel
has been the hardest worker of the month. That swimmer keeps
a traveling trophy for a month and will also receive a special H.A.
cap for this honor.

2010

Senior
Division: Megan Smith
Although
I had four swimmers who attended more workouts than the girl I've
chosen as the February winner, the attitude of this young lady
is simply too outstanding to overlook. The winner this month is
Megan Smith. 16-year old Megan Smith has quite literally been
an extreme joy to coach in the past many weeks. Although she's
been on the team, sharing duties with color guard for quite some
time, this may have been her best month ever. But what set her
apart from all of the others is her positive approach and a marvelous
attitude. I have many senior level swimmers who have good attitudes,
but Megan's is one of the most cheerful I've ever been around.
I wish I could bottle this up and share with others. Because of
this, Megan's Shelbyville meet was truly a wonderful experience
and I'm already dreading that she'll be a senior next year. I'd
sure like to keep this one around longer. As a runner-up, I'd
like to mention Elliott Ferrier, who has also displayed an outstanding
approach to practice.

9-12
Division: Michael Peck
Not
only is Michael Peck the winner for February, I must say that
I think this has been Michael's best month of practice ever. During
this past month, he has become quite a leader in his workout group
and his efforts have been relentless. Needless to say, I've been
very impressed. And, his Shelbyville weekend was a thing of beauty.
Michael swam seven events, none of which were "A" cuts
prior to the weekend. In all seven events, he shattered his best
time and the cuts. Congratulations! Carly Fugmann would have to
be the runner-up to Michael. And, I would have to include Drew
Sutphin, Courtney Younger, Britt Fugmann, Cameron Younger, and
Harrison Webb as others who had an exceptional month, and an exceptional
meet.

8
& under Division: Killian McCarthy
6-year
old Killian McCarthy is February's winner! Killian has been so
steady in practice and both Bob and Kelsey have enjoyed his pleasant
attitude. Killian's results in Shelbyville were perfect - significant
drops in all four of his strokes. I'd also, once again, have to
list Emily Peck, Nara Lee, and Perry Allen as runner-ups, all
of whom had outstanding weekends, as well.

Senior
Division: Owen Stone
In
the senior division, I don't think any swimmer has attacked
the workouts as hard or as often as has Owen Stone. The only
thing that Owen doesn't do is to lift with the team, but his
aggressive attitude in the swim workouts more than makes up
for this.
Trent Mattingly and Reid Allen would certainly be deserving
of an honorable mention. And, I would like to commend several
for having one of their better months in a long time: Megan
Smith, Katie Flynn, and Paige Martin. These are the seniors
who have made it fun for me; they get in on time, they listen
when I'm explaining sets, and they have been quite pleasant
to coach.
|
9-12
Division: Cameron Younger
In
the 9-12 division, I have to say that Cameron Younger has had
the most impressive month. Although there may be a swimmer or
two in this age bracket who has made a workout or two more than
Cameron, I have been very impressed with the quality and energy
that Cameron has shown in January. His results in the Knoxville
meet obviously support this.
In this same age group, I must also mention Britt Fugmann, Michael
Peck, and Drew Sutphin who have also had a very strong January.
|
8
& under Division: Hunter Webb
In
the 8 & under division, 7 year old Hunter Webb wins the award
for the past month. Runner-up in this younger group to Hunter
wouuld have to be Killian McCarthy.

|
Senior
Division: Jenna Ballinger
In
the 13 & over age group, the three hardest workers have
been Owen Stone, Trent Mattingly, and Jenna Ballinger. For December,
Jenna Ballinger gets the honor based on her practice attendance,
efforts in these workouts, and her improvement in the weight
room.

|
9-12
Division: Mikala Flaugher
In the 9-12
division, there were several 11-12 year olds who had very good
months, considering it is always a hectic month, but we thought
10 year old Mikala Flaugher had the best month. Mikala's practice
habits have made a very nice difference, and her Danville and
Bloomington meets proved this. Honorable mentions in this age
group have to include Carly Fugmann and a very steady group
of 11-12's, including Drew Sutphin, Cameron and Courtney Younger,
Britt Fugmann, and Emily Davis.
|
8
& under Division: Nara Lee
In
the 8 & under division, all of the coaches thought that 7
year old Nara Lee had a great month. Nara has been so easy to
coach and her improvement has been very noticeable. Emily Peck
must be an honorable mention for this age group, as she would
be almost every month.

|
Senior
Division: Reid Allen
In the 13
& over division, there are two swimmers who stick out in
perserverance, effort, and attendance; Reid Allen and Jenna
Ballinger. Although I have been extremely pleased with both,
I have to go with Reid Allen this month.
|
9-12
Division: Courtney Younger
In
the 9-12 division, Courtney Younger is an easy winner. I would
have to say that the month of November might be one of Courtney's
best months ever. She has listened well, trained well, and also
had a great WA meet.
|
8
& under Division: Emily Peck
In
the 8 & under division, the winner is easily Emily Peck. Emily
trains more like a 9-10 year old and her efforts were easy to
see in a fantastic WA meet.

Senior
Division: Trent
Mattingly
In the Senior Division,
Trent has had a great beginning of the season and he has only
missed one workout since we started in mid-September, including
weights and mornings. But it's not just his practice attendance,
but also the way he's been pouring himself into these workouts. |
9-12
Division: Drew
Sutphin
In the 9-12 division,
the most remarkable story has to come from Drew Sutphin who is
working incredibly hard, especially for a swimmer who just started
at this time last year. To see how far this young swimmer has
come in one year is truly an indication of his dedication. |
8
& unders Division: Perry
Allen
In the 8 & under division,
the best six weeks for this younger division has come from Perry
Allen. For an 8& under, Perry's attitude is exceptional and,
again in just one year, his stroke mechanics have become almost
perfect. |
