Swimmers on the Highbridge Aquatics swim team demonstrated
that less is more at the recent Wildcat Meet in Lexington,
with many swimmers dropping seconds off their best
previously-posted times. While success stories were numerous,
three topped the list as Swimmers of the Meet for Highbridge
coach Chris Fugmann for posting new times in every event they
entered.
Chrissy Haug posted a time of 1:10.38 in the 100-meter
Butterfly event, trimming more than four seconds off an
already exceptional personal best time of 1:14.85. According
to Fugmann, this result comes directly from training smart,
often and well. "A good swim should also make you look
forward to what will be possible down the road, and, without a
doubt, this can be an exciting event for a 16-year-old who is
just beginning her third winter of swimming," Fugmann
said.
Emma Ferrier posted a time of 1:43.19 from a previous best
time of 2:13.56 in the 8 and Under 100-meter Individual Medley
relay. In total, Ferrier dropped 66.17 seconds from her
events. This is Ferrier's second season swimming with the
Highbridge team.
In only her second event with the team, Devon Cobb improved
all of her times.
Others rounding out Fugmann's top swimmers for the Wildcat
Meet included Kala Boudreaux, Larissa Martim, Sarah Groppo,
Ann Louise Cooper, Lauren Fowler, Chris Lyons, Brooke Barber
and Zachary Haynes.
The Highbridge Aquatics team will compete again in
Bloomington, Ind., Dec. 19-21.
